A marching band, a gas well burn off, a tennis match, a golf tournament, firefighters, a tree stump, a artist and a billboard - Its been a BUSY week!

I havent been able to post any new photos in a week, mainly because I've been so busy taking those new photos. Its been an interesting mix of assignments, ranging from a US Open Tennis tournament, to what some consider an offensive billboard.

Special to the Star-Telegram/Brandon Wade 6/24/10 Tom Landis, one of the original owners of the Texadelphia sandwich shop chain, is upset at billboards -- billboards showing half-naked women, billboards advertising liquor and adult bookstores, billboards on how to grow your own pot. So he decided to offend in his own way, putting up a billboard at Lover's and Grenville (where 80,000 people a day see it) that says, "It's more important that you find God than Texadelphia." Already, he says, he's heard from irate passersby. "We have a standing rule that anyone that complains automatically gets five free cheesesteaks. Fritz Rahr of Rahr & Sons Brewing Co.

I photographed the owner of Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., Fritz Rahr, last Saturday for a story about beating the summer heat here in North Texas. The brewery was severely damaged last winter when heavy snow collapsed the roof. Fritz hopes to have his brewery up and running again this weekend, conducting tours, too. While the 20,000-square-foot facility is not air-conditioned, it does have swamp coolers, plus a new 25-foot stand-up bar and 16 picnic tables in what owner Fritz Rahr describes as a beer-garden atmosphere.
